Tickets in Focus: Lake Forest Illinois Speeding and Misdemeanor Aggravated Speeding Tickets on U.S. Route 41
U.S. Route 41, also known as South Skokie Highway, passes through Lake Forest generally on a north-south basis. Major streets in Lake Forest that cross Route 41 include Old Elm Road, Westleigh Road, Route 60 and Deerpath Road.
Traffic lights are located at the intersections of Old Elm Road, Westleigh Road and Route 60. Deerpath Road passes beneath Route 41.
Police issue speeding tickets to drivers along the Lake Forest stretch of Route 41.
Lake Forest speeding tickets that charge speeding between 1 and 25 miles per hour over the speed limit are charged as petty offenses.
Petty offense speeding tickets do not carry potential jail time, but in certain circumstances still can lead to the suspension of an Illinois driver's license and higher vehicle insurance rates.
A Lake Forest speeding ticket that charges speeding 26 or more miles per hour over the speed limit on Route 41 alleges the misdemeanor offense of aggravated speeding. A ticket for aggravated speeding is punishable by jail time.
Route 41 is a roadway on which vehicles travel at highway speeds. As a result, the police patrol the Lake Forest portions of Route 41 and issue aggravated speeding tickets within Lake Forest jurisdiction.
There are sections of Route 41 in Lake Forest where the speed limit changes. These stretches of highway include approaches to intersections as well as substantial highway curves.
Drivers who enter these areas at high speeds are at risk of increasingly more severe speeding tickets. An aggravated speeding ticket may be issued where the differential between the speed alleged and the applicable speed limit is high.
I defend drivers against all levels of Lake Forest speeding tickets, issued both on and off U.S. Route 41. I appear routinely in the defense of drivers at the Park City branch courthouse.
